My Sister is Here!
July 17, 2008My youngest oldest sister arrived today from Seattle! I picked her up from the airport this evening, it was her first time flying alone. She just graduated high school and is 18. It went off relatively without a hitch except I had to circle around twice at the pickup loop before we realized she was standing at the Departure Drop Off circle instead of Arrivals. I picked her up on the third loop around.
We met my aunt Ranee and kids for dinner at Hunan Rose, some of the best Chinese Food around. I ate my weight in Chinese. In fact I’m quite sick at the moment and I’m pretty sure I gained five pounds. I am the worst when it comes to Chinese. I just can’t stop eating.
Originally we had decided on going to the Summer Garden Theater in downtown Annapolis to see a play, which we did last summer when we saw “Sweeney Todd” (before it came out in the theaters w/ Johnny Depp) which she loved and I thought was ok. It wasn’t exactly my cup of tea but I like theater and it was fun. But then, we saw a link to a Mystery Dinner Theater in the area and discovered we’d both always wanted to go to one.
So I just bought tickets to a Dinner Theater in Washington DC for an Irish Celtic Mystery Dinner — it sounds like so much fun! We are going here:
We are also trying to find time to check out Filene’s Basement. They just recently opened a two in our area and I’ve been wanting to check them out. Cassie is here until Sunday and then she flies back to Seattle with my baby. Haley is going to be gone for three weeks! Haley will be at my parents and then drive over with them in their motorhomeĀ to Missouri, where we are having our first ever Family Reunion on August 10th. I’m getting really excited about it! But I can’t believe my baby is going to be gone so long! It’s like the break I always wished for, and now that it’s happening, I don’t know if I like it one bit!
I moved out from my parents home in the Seattle area (Marysville to be exact) when I was eighteen and Cassie was about 10 or 11. I have two younger sisters as well who are like 15 and 14 right now. So I don’t really know my own sisters too well. Now that Cassie is older it’s exciting in a way to really get to know her as a grown up. They are all very different from me (my parents and my sisters) but it’s great to find out things we have in common as well. I’m really looking forward to this weekend with her!
